    Film as a Tool for Advocacy on GCED

    Throughout this course you will have the opportunity to gain practical skills and hands-on experience on how to use authentic visual storytelling to advance your own advocacy work. We'll be taking a closer look at documentary films to explore the impact of visual storytelling to communicate ideas and inspire sustainable change. And, we’ll be guiding you through the whole process of creating a virtual impact campaign hosting a film screening to activate your audience into agents of change. The primary learning objectives for this course are:     Objective 1: Introduce the field and relevance of impact media and storytelling for global citizenship. Objective 2: Reflect on the concept of sustainability and your role as a creative changemaker to catalyze positive, long lasting, and systemic impact.   Objective 3: Guide and support you through the process of designing, implementing and hosting your own a virtual screening impact campaign that use film as a springboard for advocating for global social issues while developing leadership and community organizing skills.   You will meet the objectives listed above through a combination of the following activities in this course:    Watch the recorded Masterclasses and LEARN about using impact storytelling and documentary film to amplify your voice and your impact in a unique and memorable way.   CURATE short docs films using SIMA judging criteria and select a film align to the cause you want to advocate for.   TAKE ACTION and create your own Virtual Screening Impact Campaign to create awareness, spark critical thinking and activate change in your community.   REFLECT on your experience hosting a virtual screening event.     1) Curate/select your film based on what you learned from this course2) Submit your Production Form3) Submit your Screening Agreement Form 4) Host your Virtual Screening Event  5) Share your inputs and take part of the conversation

      Applicants who got an acceptance email from GCED Online Campus should proceed with the course registration.   The course aims to provide Filipino in-service teachers with the guidance on the integration of Global Citizenship Education (GCED) in the curriculum. Specifically, it aims to provide teachers the knowledge, socio-emotional, and behavioral skills, through practical application of GCED theories, principles, and concepts in the classroom. Targeting in-service teachers and educators in the Philippines, the course helps teachers infuse and contextualize GCED competencies into the subject that they are teaching using indigenous knowledge, resources, learning systems and local language. At the end of the course, teachers are expected to develop lesson exemplars with GCED integration.

    Global Citizenship and Cultural Diversity

    The course, Global Citizenship and Cultural Diversity is targeted at practitioners in the field of education and development, social and youth workers, as well as policy-makers and civil servants. The goal of the course is to further broaden their perspectives on the topic, sharpen their knowledge and skills, as well as to strengthen their capacity to carry out what they’ve learned in their contexts.   This course provides participants with a critical understanding of the relation between Cultural Diversity and Intercultural Understanding in a globalized world. The first module looks at Cultural diversity in a globalizing world within the context of Global Citizenship and Global Education. The second module of this course discusses the different elements of Global Citizenship through explaining the different elements and instruments of Global Education. The third module reflects on intercultural learning competences and the intercultural dialogue in the public political discourse. The fourth and last module of this course focuses on the practical use of Intercultural Global Education in terms of political and social action. It also explores the key dimensions of the Sustainable Development Goals.   Next to getting acquainted to various theories and instruments, participants will, through assignments, work on their own strategy development plan which they can use after the course in their own context.

    The course aims to provide an overview of the GCED (Global Citizenship Education) as well as its background, concepts under the framework of UNESCO, and guidelines for teaching and learning.
