APCEIU

The Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) was established in 2000 as a UNESCO Category 2 centre to promote education for a Culture of Peace. APCEIU is working in close collaboration with UNESCO Offices, National Commissions of Member States, related educational institutes, and civil society to promote global citizenship education (GCED) under the framework of education for international understanding (EIU) towards a Culture of Peace.

APCEIU has devoted itself to strengthening GCED/EIU capacities by pursuing its philosophy and policies through training teachers and teacher trainers; research and policy development; developing educational materials and programs; organizing different levels of workshops and conferences; and strengthening the network of teachers, educators, experts, civil society leaders and other stakeholders.

I agree with transformative education because as an educator, I am accountable to transform my student’s life to achieve their dreams in the field they want to pursue. It is not only for the fulfillment of the duty of an educator but also to help the country to grow.

The launch of Education for all program where expect the emergence of the government, private sectors and civil society and citizens to address the Millenium Development Goals or known as sustainable development goals nowadays. It was Former UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, initiated to develop this kind of program that no one should left behind. It discusses the 3 different priority areas, put every child in school, improve the quality of learning and foster global citizenship.

GCED aims to have solidarity in different nations but in a competitive way to promote innovation and creativity to achieve the common goal, a high quality education

The kind of education we need today should focus on fostering critical thinking, adaptability, digital literacy, and creativity. With the rapid pace of technological advancement and global changes, these skills are essential for navigating the complexities of the modern world and preparing for future challenges.

The education that the world needs is a rather transformative than the typical run in the mill in classroom education. It is education that goes beyond the classroom and delves into socio economic as we become more aware of the complexities of twenty-first century society. It goes beyond cognitive and academic knowledge. The education we need therefore embraces equal human and social rights as well as international social solidarity in the respect values such as culture and diversity. Henceforth knowledge production has moved to no longer be the privy of a certain few institutions or bodies but is rather accessible to all.

The education we need identifies that the worlds issues are interconnected, develops knowledge and skills in the twenty first century, based on answering modern-day challenges with modern day solutions..

lets reflect on the question that was asked, for you what kinds of education needed now? as to me both formal and informal education is needed, but both must bring an impact on community problems. Mean that after we get knowledge, we must apply to the community and solve at least one community problem.
