In this course, participants will engage in a guided exploration of the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework for SEL, four focus areas for systemic SEL implementation, and ten indicators of schoolwide SEL. Additionally, the facilitator will share application and experiences from “boots on the ground” and makes connections to Global Citizenship Education. From this shared understanding, participants will discuss their local priority for SEL, how SEL-related initiatives are currently implemented in their local context, and cultural and logistical obstacles. Participants will have the opportunity to post questions to be answered by the facilitator, as well as the purpose/goal for taking the course.        

The course will explore how teachers can deliberately create learning environments and opportunities that encourage and support students to engage in democratic thinking and discussion. The experiential course will allow teachers to explore teaching tools and content where learners can engage in dialogue and discussions, express themselves, participate in learning process, and feel the sense of belonging.    

The course 'Global Citizenship Education for Lifelong Learning Practitioners' invites educators aspiring to apply GCED in their education programmes or activities in informal or non-formal sectors. Focusing on the strategies of bringing GCED into lifelong learning, the course explores the close linkage between GCED and lifelong learning, introduces good practices in different parts of the world, and steps to design learners' own education activities. The course is strongly recommended for those who wish to promote global citizenship in their community learning programmes or any educational activities in informal or non-formal environments.

This course provides key resources and guidance for teachers and people interested in education and culture on why and how to integrate living heritage in their lessons and extracurricular activities in the school. Such lessons and activities aim to make learning more contextualized, relevant and engaging for students while they help raise awareness about the importance of safeguarding living heritage.    By the end of the course, the participant will:  Understand the benefits of using ICH in school programmes and activities. Gain capacity to develop lessons or activities, with at least one lesson or activity developed as part of the course. Build synergy with other education programs such as Education for Sustainable Development, Global Citizenship Education or Social and Emotional Learning, etc. Identify opportunities to develop more lessons or activities in her/his school context.   Whoever you are — policymaker, school director, teacher, student, parent, heritage practitioner — you have a vital role to play in this process.    

Welcome to this course! Together we will explore how to build global competency and dialogue by using films. Throughout the course, you will engage in different activities including reflecting in the forum on current practices, goals, and aspirations. We will explore ways to use film to create social emotional learning opportunities and self-reflection, as well as to facilitate dialogue around the student experience of documentary film. In addition, we will develop methods for investigating film background and exploring essential questions. And finally, we will explore ways that film can inspire positive social change through action, advocacy and awareness. This learning experience will guide you to create and share a lesson plan and get feedback from your peers. You will also have an opportunity to share your experiences teaching your lesson in a short reflection paper.     Along with the following five sessions, three live sessions with the instructor will be made for the course participants!              

Storytelling is fast becoming a crucial skill for framing issues in a way that inspires positive change. In this course, participants will be introduced to some key concepts, and explore the potential storytelling holds to create empathy and understanding, as well as how it can be used to assert identity.
